‘Ugh, I just don’t like how she thinks she is SO great’
‘She thinks she is so hot’
‘She is so in love with herself’
‘She is trying to be something she is not’
Etc etc etc I can go on.
But here are two things.
1. I don’t think I am so great or so hot.
2. I just don’t hate myself.
I am far from a perfect, ‘great’ human being. I am not Mother Teresa or Malala Yousafzai. Nor do I claim to be.
I make a tonne of mistakes, I say things I regret and I do impulsive poorly thought out things all the time. Just ask my best friend. He will happily collate a nice textbook for you of ‘Prasanthi’s Pitfalls’. I add chapters on a daily basis.
But I don’t let everything bother me into a state of sheer self loathing all the time.
Scarily enough, I have noticed that some individuals feel incredibly uncomfortable around women who do not hate themselves.
Which is why sometimes, putting yourself out there is actually quite brave. We all need to be a little brave.
Truthfully, it’s impossible to please the masses. I mean, there are even people who hate Emma Watson and feel comfortable slut shaming such a badass woman. This teaches you that none of us are spared by from some people’s desire to bring you down if you do so much as flex your little toe.
So the solution is to simply do you. And plug in your earphones and listen to Big Sean ‘I don’t give a f**k’ on repeat. Or you can play that Taylor Swift song about haters hating and players playing or whatever.
Or, take a page out of Baddie Winkle’s book. ‘Be a slut. Do whatever you want. ‘
Cos Frankly darling, I don’t give a damn.
